The artist is Filonov
The second half and the end of the 1930s were time, extremely difficult for an artist, whose work did not meet legalized norms and requirements in relation to art. One of the few opportunities to make money was to participate in the design of the city for revolutionary holidays. Apparently, “Portrait and. IN. Stalin ”is a sketch for a large panel, which was intended to decorate the facade of the club of sailors in Leningrad. Filonov mentions this work in his diary. The portrait is written in a generalized manner and is quite consistent with famous canons. However, there is a hidden subtext in it, which gives the leader the leader an ominous character. (ABOUT.
